Hi everyone, if you're here reading this then you also are having a difficult time with the sounds that seem to be coming from your head or ears. You may experience pain, and stress related feelings as you struggle through each passing day. I too have had trouble understanding my tinnitus and have seen many Doctors asking for answers. You may find the answers are not what you want to hear. Most doctors will tell you to live with it, there's nothing they can do. If that's the cast then you better learn how to deal with the sounds. I've had my tinnitus now for 10 months and I can tell you with a fact that it doesn't bother me as much as it did before. When I'm tired from a hard working day or stressed out about something my tinnitus soars in volume and tension pain soon follows.
Here are some things that may help.
1) Don't think that you have to live the rest of your life like this. Tinnitus can go away on it's own, or can be controlled by you.
2) Think of any medical problems you may have had recent to your tinnitus. Whiplash, sore neck, stress in your life, chronic pain etc... Any of these and many more can contribute to tinnitus.
3) Be Careful of long term drug use, check with your doctor if you get tinnitus.
4) Controlling tinnitus by relaxing, aspirin, laughing etc.. release the stress and your tinnitus will go down. I find that when I'm stressed (from either chronic pain from a injury to money problems or personal reasons ) the back of my neck tightens up and my tinnitus increases. I try to relax and/or take a pain killer right away. Waiting for it to go down in volume only makes it worst.
5) Getting a good night sleep. If you have problems sleeping tell your doctor. He'll give you something to help you sleep. That way you'll have the strength to make it though the next day. Remember this, tinnitus is a symptom of something else that's wrong with you. Find the problem and maybe cure your tinnitus.
6) Ear damage, from loud or prolong noises, drug use or aging. What may have happen is damage to the ear nerve. In time you'll get use to the sounds and just block them out. It takes time, maybe a year or more before your head accepts the sound as being normal.
7) Don't give up, you're not alone many of your friends, family & co-workers have or had tinnitus at one time or another. Ask them what helped them through the trying times.
8) Deal with the tinnitus and stop looking for the quick fix. You'll just stress yourself out each time it fails. This will cause the tinnitus to become even louder. Remember to relax to lower stress and take pain killers if you're in discomfort.
All the Best to you all and God Bless you.
