Air Travel

Hi,

I am travelling in August to Portugal.  It is a five hour flight. I am worried about flying with my Tinnitus.  Are there any precautions I need to take?  Will it make my T worse?

Please advise.

Re: Air Travel

Lina,

Don't worry. I haven't heard of anybody where air travel would have been a problem. I had a 4 hour flight as well a few weeks ago, and there wasn't any effect on the tinnitus. You might want to use some ear plugs though to reduce the noise or any problems with the air pressure changes. There are special flight ear plugs to deal with the pressure changes (just Google for 'Earplanes'); I used these only during the start and landing phase, but during the rest of the flight I used Alpine MusicSafe Earplugs as they absorb more noise and are also more comfortable (for the flight you could also use foam earplugs, which would reduce the noise even more)
