hey guys,
ive read some posts here saying how people have had tinnitus for a few months, i just want to say that it does get better over time. i have had tinnitus for about 12 years, since i was 14years old ( thanks to a sony walkman) but now its ok.
going through school with tinnitus is not fun, most teachers were unsympathetic. i ended up in detention quite a lot for being late, due to sleep problems.
other than a hearing test, doctors did not help me. looking back, they should of given me medication to calm me down - as the first few weeks with tinnitus are really upsetting. (especially if your young)
now i often forget i have a problem with tinnitus until it flairs up for a few days.. normally due to going to a club or (more recently) going to a cinema.
it can still stress me out but i find the best way to cope is by taking my mind of the problem. ( talking to people or watching tv etc)
- i did read here that some people manage their tinnitus by taking headache tables, which is interesting.
i personally dont know any quick fixes other than avoiding loud & very quiet places and keeping my mind not fixated on my tinnitus.
