I've had tinnitus for almost 6 months now. Seen two ENT Doctors both claiming tinnitus is caused by nerve damage to hearing cells. My tinnitus is in the high pitch level. I also get many headaches with it.
Not willing to except the Doctors learn to live with it, I started to try different things.
My tinnitus is very low now and doesn't seem to bother me as much anymore. I still do hear the buzzing way back in my mind.
Here's what I've been doing daily.
1 500mcg vitamin B12
1 1000mg vitamin C
1 multivitamin
1 to 3 times daily clonazenpam for anxiety
At bed time I take 1 to 3 pills 10mg each of Elavil.
Doctor advise to take both the clonazepam and elavil until I get use to the sounds. Could take upto 1 year.
I still enjoy my coffee, chocolate, and red wine.
Good luck I know what you're going through. Please try to stay calm and take it one day at a time.

....I am sure you mean 500 microgram (µg or mcg) which is only 0.5mg.

I corrected it to 500mcg of B12 sorry for the mistake.

Dear friends, I was given an article this a.m, which talks about "CoQ10 May Combat Chronic Tinnitus". The last paragraph says the following, " In a subgroup of 7 patients with low initial CoQ10 concentration in their system and significant increase in the CoQ10 level following the trial, a clear decrease in the TQ score was observed. The scientists (German-added, per first paragraph) concluded that in patients with a low plasma CoQ10 concentration, CoQ10 suply may decrease the tinnitus expression."
Anybody heard anything about this? Vic

Hi vic,
Q10 has already been mentioned in this forum a couple of times, but I don't of know of anybody where it would have improved the tinnitus. On the contrary, in one case it even worsened it. Q10 is a vitamin-like substance, and the effect of vitamins on tinnitus is rather limited.
