Hi Rehman,

Welcome to the forum.

There is very little that works as a short term measure against tinnitus, but first of all, you should avoid all caffeine and alcohol. You could also try whether taking a few painkillers (Paracetamol or Aspirin) for a couple of days brings an improvement.

But generally speaking, the best remedy is not to panic but just try to cope with it for the time being. In a few weeks or months time it will gradually get less on its own.

Re: New to tinnitus! M stressed out

Thomas I have to start of telling you that you forum has been a God sent for me to read - so many things I read make tinnitus sound horrible and something we have to suffer with forever.  You are the first post that has been telling everyone that it will go away as the body evolves.  I have been suffering horribly for about a month.  My tinnitus started out of no where - I one day went to lay down in bed and boom it started and my life has changed drastically!  I had some traumatic things happen in my life back 2 years ago that I have been overcoming slowly, but hold onto a lot of the pain from what had happened.  I have in such a short time since I dealing with tinnitus realized I have to forgive and let go of those things that pain me mentally.  I have am doing Integrated Body Work and Acupuncture both of them tell me that it is all do to the years of worry and anxiety.  I am hopeful that it will pass.  After I receive treatment from either of the facilitators my ringing dissipates but only temporarily - its like I am always looking for it.  I can't wait for the day to wake up and not hear the sound.  It has been debilitating your forum responses by you have given me Hope.  Thank you - you are a blessing to all of us suffering.  M
