notched music theraphy

I read about a tinnitus theraphy by listening music which has been filtered  by a notch filter around the frequency of the tinnitus. , i.e removing one octave frequency band centered around your tinnitus frequency (notching).

I prepared a music collection for myself and started listening to them.

Here is the youtube address that explains the process.

I am a digital signal processing engineer. I did this by using a software called MAtlab.

Researchers working on this method says that your tinnitus profile must fit the following

Tinnitus sounds like a rather pure peep- or whistle-like tone,
Hearing loss is less than 35 dB,
Stable tinnitus frequency less than 8000 Hz,
Age between 18 and 55 years.

Re: notched music theraphy

Hi Izzet,

Music and sound therapy seems to be a quite active area of research at the moment, and some people report positive results from listening to specifically frequency-filtered sound files (see http://forum.mytinnitus.de/en/viewtopic.php?id=43 ), but as you indicated yourself, it may not be a solution for everybody.

By all means, please let us know whether it works for you.
