Hello--haven't posted on here for a long time , but I do drop by and read from time to time. Anyway--I went to my audiologist Friday for a hearing
re-evalation..As I knew--my hearing in my right ear has decresed over last two years..(I already wear dual hearing aids --and they are life savers)...but here lately--the rushing /roaring noise are back---early in the day and stronger now..
The Dr. seems to think, since I hear better on some days then others--that maybe I have a reverse-immune system problem--like Rush Limbaugh does--my immune system is trying to over-power soemthing to compensate for lack of hearing?she wants me to try a steroid , Prednisone, for awhile and see if that helps..
I printed off a lot of info--and going to let my daughter (an RN) read over it and give me her input...
Has anyone ellse tried this procedure?? What are the good/bad side effects--and I understand yoiu have to 'taper' off this drug later..
.I need to try something--I'm only 61--and still active and healthy..I'm not going to roll over and give up because of this irriatation..
ANY IDEAS--INPUTS??
i'LL CHECK BACK IN A DAY OR TWO..
tHANKS--MY FOLKS!!

Hi Glenn,
Wikipedia gives you some info about the drug you mentioned ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prednisone ), but I personally have not heard yet from anybody having used it (or steroids in general) against tinnitus (I just did a corresponding search through this forum and about 1000 emails that I received over the years).
So I reckon just having a try yourself is your only option here if you want to explore this route.

I started on a short three week test with it yesterday, at least this
lady Dr. and the audioloigt are trying to help...
she said there has been some sucess w/ this method--if indeed the reverse immune system thing is my problem..
I will keep you folks posted..
Think Positive!!!!!!!!!!!!
