I have been visiting this well run site for a few weeks and have found favour with how Thomas has interpreted the mystery of Tinnitus.
I have been off caffeine drinks for almost three weeks and have found noticeable improvement or decrease in Tinnitus levels with this course of action. However, I was wondering if anyone had trialled alcohol free beer and if so, has it helped? I have had six bottles now and I am not sure how long it would be before I would notice results, if indeed they are going to happen at all.
Abstinence from caffiene is an understandable and logical action to take to tackle the annoyance of Tinnitus - alcohol free beer not so logical...or could it be the taste of the beer tricks the brain into a more relaxed state but without the aggrevating properties of alcohol thus lowering the Tinnitus?

Hi Edmund,
Welcome to the forum.
I discovered the calming effect of alcohol-free beer only by chance, and a couple of people have confirmed this to me (although for others who have tried it it did not work). One can or bottle was usually enough for me to significantly calm the tinnitus for a couple of days. I assume it is caused by the hops in the beer. Normal beer of course contains this as well, but here the alcohol might interfere with it.
Even if it does not work right now in your case, it is always worth to try it again in a few months time (or whatever) because the state (and thus the responsiveness) of the nervous system can change quite a lot with time. It could for instance well be that you have to be avoiding caffeine for more than a couple of weeks for this to work.
