just wondering if anybody else has had this link.
when i was 17 i experienced my first panic attack, then a period of say 6 months of regular attacks. I remember noticing a ringing in my ears, but im 35 now & cant remember how much I worried about it & it certainly dissappeared.
Just before xmas I started having severe panic attacks / being very anxious 24/7, sometimes waking up with an attack.
During one of these times I noticed a constant ringing in both ears. and it hasnt gone away. (approx 3 months ago)
Managed to get some propranolol from the GP for the panicks which is extremely helpful even at very low doses, but the ringing is there....not that loud.... & once im up & about sometimes not noticable (i realise im very lucky in that respect).
Just at bedtime now without any alcohol /environmental noise etc (im stopping cos of the T) its noticable and hard to sleep.
I do have some valium, but dont want to take these unless I have to and I dont want to have to drink to get myself off 2 sleep.
i suppose an hours running does help....i just feel 2 tired cos im not sleeping as well. vicious circle etc etc.......
Im also worried because I make music on my computer & dont know if I should completely give up or what? Music sessions seem to aggrevate it a little but it seems back to what it was the next day.....my monitors do have a very sharp hi end maybe i should move them/go back to my hifi speakers.... I just dont know.
anyway thats my story.....all the best 2 everyone.

Hi Tim,
Welcome to the forum.
As mentioned on my home page Tinnitus Tips and Advice and also in this forum, for me the occasional painkiller (Paracetamol, Aspirin) has worked best to control the tinnitus during 'bad' periods, especially at night time. It is still not ideal, but compared to Valium or other Tranquilizers (I had been prescribed Temazepam in the beginning) it has hardly any side effects (if you don't overdo it).
Alcohol-free beer also usually calmed down my tinnitus (although I discovered this only later on).
Regarding the music: trying different speakers could help, but more important is probably to limit both the volume and time. If you have to use it all day long, have frequent breaks. Also, avoid wearing headphones for longer periods (in particular in-ear headphones or those that completely seal around your ears).

Hi Thomas,
Cheers.
I've been exercising alot more this last few days and getting off 2 sleep OK actually, without anything at all. esp after running/ doing a few bench presses.
The music thing does worry me and I do take frequent breaks, headphones terrify me these days so are not used unless im desperate to listen to some new stuff late at night . But basically im leaving it alone completely alot more of the time.
will try the alcho free beer thing....cheers.
