Hi All
With tinnitus has anyone out there found anything that they can honestly say works and reduces their ringing. With all of the gadgets, pills and potions are there any successes.
Please let me know
Thanks

I've had mild/moderate T for about 27 years. Time helped the best. Whether the T subsided or I just got so used to it I don't know. A year ago my T got severe (loud noise exposure). So far with this new bout, nothing helps other than ear maskers and a sound machine. I tryed many of the herbal supplements, xannax, caffine free month or two, alcholol free, etc...With this new torment, I now don't deprive myself of a cup of coffee or a beer. I'm hoping I'll adapt better as time goes on...I'm hoping that Acamprosate or Auris AM 101 will provide some help. Although nothing so far really helps, I carry ear plugs where ever I go.

Hi John,
Welcome to the forum.
Just in case you haven't read it yet: for me the occasional painkiller (Paracetamol or Aspirin) has been very helpful for controlling and improving the tinnitus (especially in the early phase). I would definitely try these relatively harmless drugs first before taking more exotic ones (which may have considerable side effects). In any case, for the drugs to work properly you would have to avoid caffeine and alcohol again.
A drug-free alternative at the later stage (when the tinnitus had already improved substantially) has been alcohol-free beer for me. Just one can usually calmed down my tinnitus for a couple of days.

"It was one thing to have the non tonal binaural screech we all know and love (not!) but it is quite another to have a (slightly flat) c above middle c monotonously droning in my right ear all day."
wow...this would be really hard on a musician. Lord, I'd be sitting there composing symphonies from all the different notes. I've noticed that the two sounds are simultaneous.
There ya go--you're a musician, compose us a piece of white noise that covers the whining.
