Cure is defined as a way of getting rid of the sounds so that the patient experiences pure silence.
How likely is this given that there are life threatening conditions like aids or cancer which have no cure and if I remember correctly, the ear in general is something little studied and understood due to lack of money put to it.
Surely cancer is the priority yet both cancer and tinnitus are hard to cure in their own ways..
But given the nature of tinnitus being a nervous condition, is there likely to be a simple tablet or simple cure for this even in 100 years time?
thanks

i read that if 10% of the budget for space exploration research was put to tinnitus there would be major breakthroughs. there are many rich people out there perhaps even suffering themselves with tinnitus so is it just selfishness and greed which is stopping progress?
we can put a man on the moon yet we cannot cure tinnitus. It is abit suspicious to me.

The problem with nervous conditions is that you can't very well physically treat them, as they depend on so many unknown factors like your psychological state. In the end, it is just down to your own efforts to achieve some kind of cure.
Having said this, ordinary painkillers did a pretty good job for me. They did not completely got rid of the tinnitus, but they quite strongly suppressed it for a couple of hours when required, and also helped to improve the condition in the long term.
