Hi everybody,I have been thinking for a few weeks of electrical nature of some types of tinnitus(like oscillations, loops etc.)and wonder if one of treatments could be medically induced coma. The procedure stops(almost)electrical brain activity maintaining only the vary vital ones in tact.So I think all those oscillations and self induced loops without "fuel"(brain nearly dead)should stop too. Now,who knows may be after awakaning you will be a T-free person? This metod will not help me as my tinni is not caused by loud sounds but later about it.Plese respond to it,especially Mr.Thomas as a phisycist, thanks Peter.

Hi Peter,
Welcome to the forum.
I am actually not so sure whether a drug induced coma is such a good idea. The risks associated with such a procedure would probably be unreasonable. Also, I don't know whether it would get rid of the tinnitus for good. The point is that your hearing system works for instance also when you are asleep, so it may probably not be incapacitated by a coma either.
However, as a small scale version of it, you could try whether painkillers (Paracetamol, Aspirin) suppress your tinnitus. The occasional painkiller has helped me a lot (especially in the early stages) to control and improve the condition.

Hi Peter!
I have a lot of health problems. Not only tinnitus. I also have diabetes. If you get too low sugar levels you can fall into coma. It happened to me once. I was in deep coma for two hours. When I got help by an ambulance team to wake up, the first I heard was my tinnitus.
So sorry coma does´nt work.
Kindly
Anders
